The show at Little Fish, Huge Pond was an awesome time thanks to the local patrons and the lovely "MO" (owner) who showed us so much love that we will definitely be back soon.

On another note, i am currently playing M-F at Bob Marley's Tribute to Freedom located inside City Walk, Universal Studios with the reggae band "Mystik NRG". It's been a great time so far and I'm happy to be sharing the stage with such amazing players and most importantly, great people. If you are in the Orlando area, come on down for some ragga music! It's been some time since i last wrote and i hope to post more often. July was a very exciting month filled with professional and personal milestones.

The official CD Release show for "El Experimento De La Vida" was a wonderful evening full of friends and really loud music.

The band was on fire and guest performances by my good friends Alexandrah of SOS, Tropik and Kasa Panzu made the evening a memorable one.

By the end of the show i realized i was in the middle of a full blown flu which extended itself into the next week and consequently the next task at hand. That week was the beginning of pre-production for a new album I'm producing for a wonderful Native American artist named Paula Bowers for whom i also play drums as part of her touring band. The album is currently being mixed in Nashville by James Creer and I'm working on the artwork as i write this post. It's been an exciting project and we're very eager to hear and see the final result.

This coming month i will be traveling for a few weeks in support of Paula's album and I'm looking forward to visiting a few cities I've yet to see like Santa Fe,NM and some of my favorites cities like Manhattan and Hollywood,CA. I've also been working on a small tour in Puerto Rico for the last week of September after a long absence from the homeland. I'm looking forward to the food,my family and most of all sharing my country with my wife and boys. On that note, this month brought with it my youngest son's very 1st Birthday which is the highlight of highlights for me. I'll keep you all posted as the weeks go by. Talk to you soon!!

Stillbirth – The facts
When fetal death occurs after the 20th week of pregnancy, it is referred to as a stillbirth. One out of every two hundred pregnancies in the United States ends in stillbirth each year.¹ A majority of these occur without significant time to prepare. Parents often enter the doctor's office expecting to hear news of their baby’s development and instead, must face the heartbreaking pronouncement of stillbirth and the grief that follows.

Even the right to grieve is sometimes withheld by a society that implies a fetus is not yet a baby, that a mother's womb is not carrying a precious life. While mothers who miscarry are often not extended the grief support necessary, they are at least able to openly grieve the loss of the dream and the end of a pregnancy that would have culminated in the live birth of a long-awaited baby. Moms and dads who lose full-term infants have the grief support of a community that recognizes and legitimizes the loss of a child. But, when a fetus dies in-utero, even the medical community can minimize the immense grief that accompanies such a loss, by failing to define the loss, as that of a baby.

This week a co-worker of mine at United Way passed away. He was a very compassionate,intelligent and selfless individual who regardless of his physical ailment and advance age, found it in his heart to volunteer at the United Way call center. He rode the bus to work every morning and walked a mile with a limp from the bus stop to get to work. He was a cool old man and i learned from him everyday. I wish his stay had been longer but i'm very grateful to have had the honor and pleasure of knowing him.

I'll miss your voice Bob. Rest in Peace..

Tonight is reggae night. I'll be performing with Rising Lion after 7 years. Danny Dread,frontman for Rising Lion, gave me the spot on my very first tour back in 2002 and the lessons learned were invaluable. Hola!
I just got back from Philadelphia where i played with Native American singer Paula Bowers as part of the Native Music Rocks Tour sponsored by The Seminole Tribe of Florida and The Hard Rock Cafe & Casino. It's the first of many dates to come. Next month we'll be in Green bay and there's talk of performing in London at the Hyde Park Festival. It was an awesome time and i finally had the pleasure of visiting Philly.It's a beautiful city with very warm people and beautiful architecture overflowing with diversity and character. I hope to go back real soon.

Yes, i had the famous Original Philly Cheese steak! It was a little on the cold side but good nonetheless. On route to South Philly i stopped in a couple record shops and Funk-O-Mart took the cake by far(que pasa chino!). Had to pick some vinyl of course!! We also some really cool cats from the band "Live To Tell"who are Philly natives. Now back to business!

WHO DO YOU LOVE?

Hola mis amigos,

Well this week was mainly spent coughing excessively and trying to rest up(no luck). It was a great week regardless. On Monday i spent some time working on the new version of Love When You Can at the Full Sail Mix Palace and I'm excited to get back in there today to finish tracking the guitars and vocals. I've been working on the new website all week too and I'm aiming to complete it by next week. I'm heading out to Philly this week to play with a great Native American singer named Paula Bowers and hopefully get to hang with my good friend Jalima.

Yesterday i had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with the lovely Alexandrah of SOS who is
a truly remarkable artist. She is aggressive delicacy delivered in song. Our track together is called "Who Do You Love" and will be featured on "Experimento De La Vida". We're talking about doing a whole album together soon after i complete my album. It's definitely a collaboration I'm really looking forward to.

Well, I'll make sure to blog from Philly.

Hola! Just a quick update on a few things..

My good friends Beth Mckee and Juan Perez have released a new CD which has already recieved great reviews from fans and media. I was very fortunate to record back-up vocals on the album as well. Go check it out!!

I'm also working on a brand new website that will have everything accessible and easy to navigate. The site will include news,bulletins, tour dates, music store, video and merchandise.
It should be a great way to communicate with all you of as well and get as much content as possible out to all of you on a regular basis.

We are working on solidifying a date for the presentation the album. Our good friend Nancy Flynn from artzymama was gracious enough offer her beautiful property for the event in addition to bringing some of Orlando's finest visual artists to exhibit their work. Dave Segal from BootlegTV will be filming the event as well as providing the promo videos for the event. We intend on having a nice variety of exotic foods and a unique assortment of wine (uuummm) as well. The concert will be held outside, under the stars to complete the experience. I'll keep you informed as it all develops.

When it rains,it pours..update on the experiment

Hello world!

This weekend was extremely productive in many ways. As I've mentioned before I've been working very closely with the folks at FullSail University during the recording of Experimento De La Vida. Their help has been evaluable throughout this whole process and i will remain eternally grateful to everyone who has contributed in any way to this project. On that note, thanks to a group of students at Full Sail, i will have the tremendous oppurtunity to shoot a full blown music video for the song "Amor Bueno" which will be included on "Experimento De La Vida". The song was originally recorded in the 1950's by Rey Arroyo who was a puertorican singer in the famous "trio" genre and he happens to be my father's favorite artist and song.

I did the arrangement in reggae because it seemed like an appropriate marriage of sounds.

The video is set to be completed by the end of this month and i'll continue to update you on the progress throughout the shoot through twitter.

Also this weekend i reunited with a good friend,teacher and amazing artist Danny Dread aka Rising Lion who gracefully tracked a feature on "Love When You Can" which i will be releasing today as a free single. Thank you Brethren!

Slowly (things will come together) will be the first release of Experimento De La Vida and is the oldest original song on the album. I wrote the song with good friend and excellent artist Jeremy Hagen in Spring of 2004 when my wife announced she was carrying our first child,Salvador Emeterio Garcia. Sal is now 4 years old and quite the artist in his own right and he's actually featured in the song. It's actually a recording of him when he was a year old and he was singing a little melody which happened to be in the same key of the song. It worked out really well for the song and appropriate to use the muse.

The song was originally tracked at FullSail University in a Master Lab for 5.1 Recording with a soon to become friend and amazing engineer James Creer. The song had over 40 tracks and included my great friends Jeremy Hagen(Electric Guitar) and Kevin Stever (Rhodes,Cello,Piano) and i played drums,percussion,bass and Vocals.

It's a beautiful song about anticipation and hope that blends my love for R&B and my Caribbean roots. The message is about redemption through love and change.It's about commiting to a whole new paradigm and surviving the shift. And so the song now rings true as i wrap up my 1st album and relish in my role of father and husband knowing very well that slowy..things will come together.

I'm currently finishing the mastering and should have it released by next week..

Experimento De La Vida...update from behind the glass

So here i am 4 months since i began working on "Experimento De La Vida", my debut album. It's been an inspiring and challenging experience thus far which i know will only get better. In these 4 months I've had to record most of the music on my own in my home studio which has been more work than i imagined but also a tremendous learning experience. Fortunately i've had the additional support of the folks at FullSail University,my family and a few close friends(you know who you are). At the same time i've been working at the United Way Call Center assisting those in need of social services, a job which i look forward to everyday. The really do great things and i'm proud to be a part of such a beautiful organization.

Not many people outside of the music industry understand what it takes to record a full-length album so i though I'd give a quick breakdown....

There are basically three stages: 1)Pre-production 2) Production and 3) Post-production.

The 1st stage is essentially a full-blown preparation stage which includes songwriting,song selection,musician selection,concept of album,studio selection,arranging of the songs and the list goes on.

Once that is done then you get to the magical part; "recording".The recording process is also a challenge because you are essentially recording something that will be permanent. That takes a tremendous commitment to the performance and of course this varies depending on your standards and vision for the album.

After all the music and vocals are recorded you then proceed to the last stage, post-production. In this last stage, the songs have to be edited,mixed and mastered which are all very tedious endeavors and require a substantial amount of time.

These 3 stages do not include the artwork for the album,duplication,distribution and promotion which are all equally as vital.

As you can see, it's quite a mission!

Well i've been doing 95% of all this for "Experimento De La Vida" which has been both frustrating and educational.

At the end of the day it will all be worth the effort and sacrifices made.

I hope you all receive this work with the same warmth and love that in creating it. The digital release is set for May 8th, 2009.

Smile when you hear it,the tone we evolve.

The noise of doubt,fear,conformity,disillusion,guilt,inferiority. The growing roar slowly flat-lines into a faint and permanent "you can't". Resist. We are but walking chronicles basking in the permeating conditioning of superstition and empty philosophy. "It's been done" they say.

Laughable and frightening when revealed, coats of varnish on a old broken world. This skewed lens is an atrocity of ignorance defiling the innocent heart..

I refuse to except the vicarous life of a coward. No,no,no. There is much more, you see.. we all shift in this sea of paradigms and concoctions wondering which is our shore.

This quiet journey is a dreamer's dream, a poets ether. The relic of a muse. . We own the horizon,mesmerized by what can be concieved. Sustanence is of the essence, the nuance of adventure, the portal to truth. The folly of faith.

The unwound soul can now lay flat on the irrate sky and look down at tranquility...exposed...beautiful.

So here i am knee deep in work yet i don't have a job. Hmmm...the world of freelance artists.
My first priority is wrapping up the recording of my first full-length album and trying coordinate all of the business side of things as well. Oh how i wish i could only write,record and perform... welcome baaack!

I might as well add losing 20 pounds to my wish list but that's neither here nor there wherever there might be. In all honesty, i'm having a blast. The Social Media world is fascinating! I'm learning so much and at the same time meeting new and interesting people. The best part is no traffic jams or postage needed. Well i have to get back to the ol' "what does that mean?" on the interweb. Anyone interested in helping me promote,set-up,advise or any useful gesture towards getting my music out there would be greatly appreciated. I know you are out there!
